Storylines:
(written up by Pix!)
These are all just very rough thoughts as of this time! They'll be refined of course, as time goes on.

The Princess(es): Any Ingénue will do, you know. This is a character who is so optimistic and cheerful and rooted in seeming goodness that it's just...almost too easy. This person exhausts Verity and she finds them to be tiresome and unpleasant. She will react almost to them with a certain antipathy from almost the first meeting and will find it impossible to take them seriously. It isn't that Verity hates them. It's not even really about jealousy (much). It's that *she* was the princess once. And she knows what it's like to lose the red lips and tiny waist and grow into a woman, no longer a maiden for the prince to carry away. Because of this she is likely to treat the Princess figure(s) with impatience and a certain coldness.
To them, of course, she can easily play the perfect villain.
Princesses: [info]candy_q,

The Vasilisa: Now this is another story. While typically a younger person and (usually) female this character sets herself against the Witch but there is some deeper struggle of wills here than just battling archetypes. But unlike the princess Verity has respect for the Vasilisa and sees a grit and spirit in them that she likes, even as she may choose to frustrate their designs and let herself be seen by them as an adversary.

The Rapunzel: [info]seekingboston A child, preferably a child with little influence upon their mind or spirit. Someone the Witch can mold, can remake in her own image. It's an act of ego and of art, and something Verity desires deeply and will put a great deal of will into. She will protect the Rapunzel with terrifying ferocity if they are threatened, will avenge them with true vindictiveness, and will seek to keep them 'safe' from any other influences. They are her chance to start over, vicariously.

The Soldier(s): Anyone that the Witch manages to make her creature. They Soldier will serve her, whether or not they exactly *want* to. They may feel terrible about what they do, may be broken-hearted over it, or they may do it with a sort of detached sense of duty, loyalty. Verity may treasure her soldiers, or she may scorn and abuse them. Whatever reason makes them loyal to Verity, she will do whatever she needs to keep their loyalty as long as it suits her. She is fickle, however, and will sometime reward earnest service with something...less than gratitude.

The Devil: This would be a character of some amount of wicked perversity that the witch managed to somehow make her willing pet. Different from the Soldier in that the Devil sincerely relishes the tasks they are asked to carry out, even though they may complain. Won over either by promised rewards, love and respect, or simply by force of personality, the Devil is the gleeful imp that serves the Witch's will and will do what she asks. Of course, it helps that she is careful to ask of it only things that suit it's own sadistic fancies anyhow...

The Skull: (a patient) The Skull is the Witch's Spy and informer. They may not serve out of loyalty or even *like* her, but they work with a dogged intensity that leaves immense damage in its wake. They warn her when the Princess or the Vasilisa is coming and what she is up to, they give her information and let her seem strangely prescient to others. They gather ingredients for her spells. They are her shadow, her secret weapon, her eyes and ears.

The Mirror: A love/hate relationship. The Mirror is a character that nearly always tells the Witch exactly what she wants to hear. One of the few people Verity may eventually allow herself to depend upon even in some small way, who strokes her ego and (usually) enjoys the benefits of pleasing her. Somehow, even if they don't know it, they have an innate understanding Verity's desires and needs. Of course, sometimes the Mirror chooses to ignore this. Sometimes they tell her what she does *not* want to hear. And those times, things tend to get broken. Sometimes even the Mirror itself.

The Prince: The Prince is a character that loathes Verity, and may well seek to harm her in any way. The reasons for this can be many, and usually involve protecting or avenging a Princess. But for whatever reason, the Prince thinks that he has 'discovered' her 'true nature' and that he is the only one that can rid the world of her 'evil'. The Witch, for her Part, scarcely notices the Prince. He doesn't understand that he's just not the one she's concerned with.

The King: (An adult, obviously) Ah, the King. What can we say? This ideally would be her mate. The person who is suppose to be her helpmeet and partner in the path into responsibility and adulthood. However the King often has other things demanding his attention like daughters and sons...or the ghost of that *perfect* first wife! Or perhaps he does not want a woman but a maiden and he scorns the witch for someone he can more easily control.
either way...the King will either be a positive foil and the person she can share both a healthy sexual life with as well as some sort of emotional tie, or someone who she ends up needing to step over in her life's journey. After all - the reason to keep princes around is for when Kings get careless....
